EGO Leaf Blower Models Compared: 530 vs 615 vs 650 vs 670 vs 765 vs 880

EGO names every blower by its turbo number, and that is not the number you use most of the time

TL;DR: EGO names each blower after its turbo CFM, but you spend most of your time on the variable-speed dial, and the dial numbers tell a different story. The 530 (LB5302) dials all the way to 530 CFM; the 615 (LB6151) dials only to 480 and reaches 615 on the turbo button. The 670 (LB6703) is the sensible step up - dial to 530, turbo to 670, and a bigger 4.0Ah battery in the kit. For large properties, the 765 (LB7654) has the widest dial range of the group. Specs below are from EGO's own product pages; kit batteries are from the Amazon listings.

If you have ever tried to work out whether the EGO 615 is actually better than the 530, you have probably found that nobody answers it directly. The model numbers make it look simple - 615 is bigger than 530 - but each model number is the turbo figure, the burst you get while holding a button. EGO also publishes each blower's variable-speed range, and those numbers are the ones that describe everyday blowing.

The Spec Table

880 (LB8803-2)880Not listed on EGO's page200Two 4.0Ahup to 90 min

*EGO's LB6504 page lists the dial range as 225-500 CFM in one place and 225-470 CFM in another.

Two notes on reading that table. The runtime figures are "up to" claims from the listings, and EGO's own product copy notes that turbo draws more power and drains the battery faster - so real runtime depends heavily on how much of the job you do on turbo. And EGO sells other blowers not in this table (a 480, 575, and 580, plus a 600 CFM backpack); these six are the ones people most often compare against each other.

530 vs 615: The Comparison People Get Wrong

On paper the 615 wins by 85 CFM. In use, it depends which end of the trigger you live on. The 530's dial runs from 250 all the way to 530 CFM, so its full rated airflow is available on steady, lock-on blowing. The 615's dial runs from 200 to 480 CFM; the extra 135 CFM above that exists only while you hold turbo. So for steady clearing, the 530 actually moves more air than the 615 does without turbo.

Where the 615 earns its number is the burst - 615 CFM at 170 MPH, per EGO - for wet, matted leaves or debris packed into a corner. Both kits on Amazon ship with the same 2.5Ah battery and carry the same "up to 75 minutes" claim.

Pick the 530 if most of your blowing is dry leaves on a driveway or patio and you would rather set a speed and forget it. Pick the 615 if you regularly fight wet leaves and want the turbo punch - and accept that you will be pressing the button to get it.

615 vs 670: What the Step Up Buys You

This is the other comparison people search for, and the gap is wider than 55 CFM suggests. The 670 dials up to 530 CFM (versus the 615's 480), turbos to 670, and EGO rates it at 180 MPH against the 615's 170. The bigger difference is in the box: the 670 kit ships with a 4.0Ah battery instead of 2.5Ah, which is where its longer 80-minute claim comes from. If you are choosing between the two for a quarter-acre or more, the 670 is the better buy on runtime alone.

The 650 vs the 670

These two sit close enough to confuse people. The 670 has more turbo airflow and a higher dial ceiling (530 versus 500). The 650 kit comes with a larger 5.0Ah battery against the 670's 4.0Ah, and carries a 90-minute claim against 80. Airflow favors the 670; runtime favors the 650. If you already own EGO batteries, compare them as bare tools and take the 670.

765 and 880: For Bigger Properties

The 765 has the widest dial of any model here at 260-580 CFM, plus 200 MPH and a 5.0Ah battery in the kit. It is the one to pick for an acre of mature trees where you are blowing for an hour, not ten minutes.

The 880 is the highest-CFM handheld in EGO's current blower lineup, rated at 880 CFM and 200 MPH, with a digital display that shows battery charge and cruise-lock status. It ships with two 4.0Ah batteries. EGO does not list a dial range on its page, so it is not in the dial comparison above. At that point you are also in backpack-blower territory, and our backpack blower guide is worth a look before you commit to holding that much blower at arm's length.

Which EGO Blower Should You Buy?

Small lot, mostly dry leaves: the 530 - full rated airflow on the dial. Small lot, wet leaves: the 615 for the turbo burst. Quarter to half acre: the 670 - the best balance of dial airflow and battery. Half acre and up: the 765. Large wooded property: the 880, or a backpack blower.

Common Questions

Is the EGO 615 better than the 530?

Only on turbo. EGO rates the 615 at 615 CFM on turbo, but its variable dial tops out at 480 CFM, while the 530's dial reaches the full 530. For steady blowing the 530 moves more air; for short bursts on wet debris the 615 is stronger.

What is the difference between the EGO LB6150 and LB6151?

Same 615 CFM blower. On Amazon, the LB6151 is listed as the kit with a 2.5Ah battery and charger, and the LB6150 is listed as the bare tool with no battery or charger.

Which EGO blower has the longest runtime?

Among these kits, the 650, 765, and 880 listings all claim up to 90 minutes - the 650 and 765 with a single 5.0Ah battery, the 880 across its two 4.0Ah batteries. Runtime drops sharply on turbo.

What does the model number on an EGO blower mean?

It is the maximum CFM, which on these models is the turbo figure. The variable-speed range, listed separately on EGO's product pages, is the better guide to everyday performance.
